Wooden or metal staircase: how to make the right choice?
The choice of material is one of the most important decisions when designing a staircase. Wood brings natural warmth and timeless tradition, while metal evokes modernity, finesse, and an industrial look. At Lux Art Dream Design, we don't force you to choose: combining both materials is often the solution most favored by our clients in Luxembourg and Belgium for a unique and balanced result.

The character of each material
Wood is a living material that offers a feeling of comfort underfoot and excellent acoustic insulation. It fits perfectly into classic or rustic interiors. Steel, on the other hand, allows for airier and lighter structures, with thin stringers that do not block light. An all-metal staircase gives a resolutely contemporary or industrial style to your home. In our showroom, you can touch these materials and feel the difference in texture and atmosphere they provide.
Maintenance over the years
Maintenance differs according to your choice. Powder-coated metal at Lux Art is extremely scratch-resistant and cleans with a simple wipe. Wood requires more specific attention: depending on the finish (oil or matt varnish), periodic maintenance keeps its luster. A professional matt varnish offers lasting protection against daily wear, while oil allows for easier local touch-ups. We use high-quality products to ensure your staircase remains beautiful for decades.
Combining the best of both worlds
The current trend is the hybrid staircase: a robust steel structure and warm wooden treads. At Lux Art, we offer steel frames in RAL 9016 white, 9005 black, 9006 grey, or 7015 anthracite, or any other custom RAL. Oak or beech treads can be stained to harmonize with your interior. This combination offers the structural solidity of metal and the tactile comfort of wood, creating a perfect balance between modernity and conviviality for your home in Luxembourg.
