Small exterior stairs: connect terrace and garden without wasting space
A few garden steps deserve the same careful planning as a large staircase. The narrowest model is not automatically the most practical: keep passages, doors and windows usable and consider walking comfort. Lux Art creates small exterior stairs as well as large bespoke metal structures.
Start with the departure and arrival
Measure finished-surface height, available length and preferred width. Allow for the future level of an unfinished terrace. Photograph the route from both ends, including doors, windows, downpipes and obstacles. Leave room before the first step and at the arrival. Step count and geometry require verified dimensions, not an estimated height. Mention furniture transport or other everyday uses.
Straight, turning or spiral: compare by use
A short straight flight may be enough for a few garden steps. A turn may preserve a passage; a spiral may suit a higher terrace if its diameter and clear width suit the use. Do not choose it solely for its compact appearance: passing someone or carrying furniture is harder. Compare shapes on the site plan, including ground-floor windows and routes around the stair.
Remember treads, guards and water
Lux Art includes galvanising for exterior metal stair corrosion protection. Grating, perforated metal or another compatible tread depends on model, footwear and maintenance. No surface eliminates ice risk. Keep roof runoff away and assess handrails, open sides and terrace edges together. RAL colours can match the façade; stainless-steel railings do not receive a RAL finish.
Your project with Lux Art in Grass
For Luxembourg or Belgium, send photographs, finished levels and available dimensions in millimetres. We also cover nearby border areas around Longwy, Thionville, Trier and Perl. Ask the responsible municipality about procedures before changing a façade or access. Your request receives a REF; we call to review the details before a price can be prepared. The confirmation contains no price.
