Large multi-storey exterior stairs: planning building access
Separate apartment entrances or new circulation in an existing building may require multi-storey exterior stairs. This is not a stack of identical flights: each level has its own height, door and landing. The whole requires coherent design. Lux Art creates these large bespoke metal configurations alongside small terrace stairs.

Map every storey and landing
Prepare a section with finished levels and a plan of every door. Existing storey heights may vary. Check door swings, turns and landing space. State user numbers, two-way traffic and transport needs. An occasional link differs from everyday building access. Flights, landings and guards must form a continuous route; do not choose a spiral solely to reduce the footprint.
Assess structure, foundations and façade for the project
Include use-related loads, wind, vibration and guard forces in the assessment. Foundations and anchors depend on ground and actual load-bearing supports; insulation alone is not a fixing substrate. Agree responsibility for calculations and building-envelope connections. Galvanising protects against corrosion but does not replace structural or connection design. Plan drainage and access for inspections, including under landings.
Everyday access or escape stair?
An exterior stair is not automatically an escape stair. For evacuation use, assess its function, routes, exits and materials within the applicable safety process. A stair alone does not provide access for everyone. For shared buildings, involve the architect, engineer and responsible authorities as appropriate. Luxembourg rules do not automatically apply in Belgium, France or Germany. A photograph or model selection is not regulatory approval.
Prepare installation and contact our team
Photograph the full façade, site access and delivery space. State whether homes remain occupied and which routes must remain open during installation. Discuss large configurations beyond the form directly with our team in Grass. For Luxembourg or Belgium, send photographs, finished levels and available dimensions in millimetres. We also cover nearby border areas around Longwy, Thionville, Trier and Perl. Ask the responsible municipality about procedures before changing a façade or access. Your request receives a REF; we call to review the details before a price can be prepared. The confirmation contains no price.
