Bespoke metal fire escape stairs: preparing the project properly
A fire escape stair lets people leave a storey from outside where a building needs it: offices, workshops, schools, apartment buildings or a house extension. Lux Art designs and fabricates these bespoke metal stairs with landings and guards. Evacuation requirements depend on the building and are set by the architect, design office or competent body; we build the stair to those specifications.

Who sets the requirements?
Clear width, number of exits, door-opening direction and any material requirements depend on the building’s use and applicable rules. In Luxembourg, the ITM publishes fire-prevention requirements by building type; in Belgium, basic standards and local rules apply. Obtain these from your architect, design office or fire service before choosing a model. Lux Art does not replace that study and does not issue compliance certificates: we fabricate the stair from the plans and requirements provided.
Straight with landings or spiral?
Over several storeys, straight flights with intermediate landings are often the easiest for several people to use quickly. A metal spiral takes less ground space and may suit where the project requirements allow it, for example as a secondary access. The choice depends on occupant numbers, height and space in front of the façade. Each landing must match a door and keep its opening clear.
Galvanised steel, treads and guards
Lux Art galvanises its exterior metal stairs against corrosion; a RAL finish can be added to match the façade. Grating treads let water and snow through but do not remove ice risk, so winter maintenance remains necessary. Guards and handrails run the full height and along each landing. Façade fixings and foundations are designed for the existing structure.
Your project with Lux Art in Grass
If possible, attach the architect’s plans or the design office’s requirements, plus photographs of the whole façade and site access. Send photographs, finished levels and available dimensions in millimetres. We work in Luxembourg, Belgium and the nearby French and German border areas. Your request receives a REF; we call to review the details before a price can be prepared. The confirmation contains no price.
